community involvement

Rooted in Commnity.

I believe that being part of a community means more than living in a place or doing business there. It means paying attention, building relationships, and choosing, again and again, to show up. Civil rights work is one way I do that, but it’s only one part of a much larger commitment to supporting the health, dignity, and creativity of the community I call home.

Clay has taught me that nothing is made alone. Every piece depends on shared resources, shared knowledge, and shared space. In the same way, our lives are shaped by the people, systems, and histories around us. When those systems are strong and just, we all benefit. When they’re strained, it’s a collective responsibility to help reinforce them.

I believe artists have a unique role in this work. Our skills: making, storytelling, problem-solving, imagining, can enrich more than shelves or walls. Art can create moments of connection, invite reflection, and help people feel seen and welcomed. When artists invest back into their communities, the work carries more than function or beauty; it carries care.

This practice is rooted in participation. Supporting local organizations, contributing resources, collaborating with others, and staying engaged where we live. My hope is that each piece made here is not just something you take home, but something that reflects shared values: care for one another, responsibility to place, and the belief that community is something we actively create together.

Thank you for being part of that with me.
